Protein Industries Canada seeking projects with short-term commercialization potential

Posted:

Protein Industries Canada is currently accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for co-investment into eligible short-term technology projects, under its continual intake process, first announced in March 2020. Eligible consortiums are encouraged to continue to submit EOIs.

Last spring, the process was moved to a continual intake process for technology projects. This was to allow consortiums to develop, and submit, projects on a timeline that works best for them.

Over the past year more than 30 formal EOIs have been received across the four categories of Create, Grow, Make and Sell. As we look to what will be some of our final investments under the initial Innovation Supercluster Initiative contract, as well as any new funding Protein Industries Canada may receive following the 2021 federal budget announcement, we continue to use the same intake process for our Technology Co-investment Program. We are actively seeking projects that have near-term outcomes that fall in the Make or Sell categories. Examples are collaborative projects that are focused on innovative new processing techniques that create new ingredients or food products with a clear path to market.

Eligible projects are those that are submitted by a collaborative consortium, of which at least one member is considered a small or medium-sized enterprise. The project should leverage strengths, address gaps and accelerate innovation across the value chain.

If you have an idea for a project, or would like to discuss further, please reach out to us through our contact page.
